CDithem provides a unique network of outstanding academic research groups with complementary skills. It brings together expertise enabling drug discovery with a special emphasis on the modulation of protein-protein interactions.
CDithem was initially started by groups that work with intracellular targets, medical chemistry, compound screening and computational chemistry.
The aim of this network is to run a dedicated infrastructure in which academic projects are handled in an industrial manner in order to define and use suitable targets for drug discovery.

Objectives

|
CDithem aims at discovering inhibitors or stabilizers of macromolecular interactions with a drug discovery or chemical biology perspective.
Thus, CDithem :
- identifies and evaluate potential drug targets,
- identifies hits using computational and experimental screening,
- develops new cutting edge technologies and skills dedicated to the field of protein-protein interactions,
- optimizes selected compounds to produce a proof of concept in an animal model.
The project aims initially at investigating protein-protein interactions in the context of cancer and infectious diseases, but in a near future any therapeutic application will be considered.

Who will benefit from CDithem ?
|
 Candidate project/target are prioritized and monitored by an independent board of scientists and professionals from the pharmaceutical industry.
Industrial partners and academic groups can benefit from CDithem if the project is selected by our committees.
The network is accessible as a whole or by "apartment" to biologists or chemists willing to study the function(s) of protein-protein interactions using small organic modulators. Functionally validated interactions can also be targeted to produce new drug candidates.
CDithem will create values for academic research projects, identify lead compounds for drug development and develop techniques for targeting protein-protein interactions that can benefit both academic and industrial research groups.
